The Food Corporation of India (FCI) is willing to implement the major recommendations of a panel, which had suggested that the FCI should be fully overhauled, with which one can expect major reforms in procurement and distribution of food.

According to the panel's suggestions, certain measures should be take such as direct transfer of cash for fertilizers and grains in order to keep a check on the leakage of subsidy. Additionally, it had said that the FCI should withdraw from major northern states and remain focused on eastern and northeastern states.

The panel remains focused on the FCI to initiate various recommendations, and others to be taken up by the department of food and public distribution and by the department and certain by the Centre. Main objective is to assure that no grain remains in CAP (covered and plinth) storage for more than three months.
