United States : DOTC wants bids for 6 airport deals
Publish Date : 18-Feb-2015
The Department of Transportation and Communications is inviting bidders to take part in the auction of six provincial airport projects in February 2015, with the actual bid submission anticipated by October 2015, in line with a wider aim to modernize airport facilities outside Metro Manila. The public private partnership initiative involves “bundled” airport projects in Bacolod-Silay, Laguindingan, Iloilo, Davao, New Bohol (Panglao) and Puerto Princesa. The airport deals have a combined development worth of around P116 billion.
The last PPP structure will probably involve two bundles with three airports each.
This auction comes ahead of securing government approvals for what could be its largest airport PPP, the maintenance and operations contract for Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport, anticipated in the second quarter of 2015. The DOTC said in a presentation during an aviation seminar that the publication for the invitation to prequalify for the six provincial airports was set by end-February 2015. It is set to ask for interested participants to enter their qualification documents by April 2015.
