The Welsh government has announced the publishing of an official tender for its GBP 3 million Superfast Cymru Infill Project.
The project is targeted at extending the reach of 24 Mbps+ broadband services to more business and industrial parks. The programme supported with GBP 56.93 million from the central government Broadband Delivery UK programme. It aims to bring FttC/P connectivity to 96 percent of Welsh premises by summer 2016.
About 91 percent will be obtained by the Phase 1 completion target date. However, since then the BDUK has earmarked another GBP 250 million in the Superfast Extension Programme (SEP) to bring fast broadband to 95 percent of premises by 2017, with GBP 12.11 million to go to Wales.
