India : NABARD making efforts to boost the use of Solar PV Pumps
Publish Date : 23-Feb-2015
The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), in a bid to persuade the farming community to fulfill their irrigation needs through solar power systems, has requested support from all stakeholders.
The NABARD has been working as an implementing agency for the solar photovoltaic water pumping systems scheme of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
The bank will carry out a one-day workshop on Thursday in Vijayawada on the execution of the scheme in Krishna district. It has sent its invitation to all MNRE-empanelled producers of the solar photovoltaic water pump systems, all banks and the New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh for this event.
The Assistant General Manager, NABARD, N. Madhumurthy stated, “Solar pump systems are economically viable for all kinds of farmers. The subsidy offered by the NABARD is a minimum of Rs. 50,000 and a maximum of up to Rs. 1.94 lakh for each system based on its capacity.”
In a bid to persuade banks to offer their credit support to the farmers, the solar photo voltaic water pump systems manufacturing companies, including Tata Solar, BPL Solar, Cyber and Motion companies, will be joining the workshop to exhibit their technology before the bankers. The scheme is being implemented by the NABARD.
