India : INDIAN government raises its defense cooperation agreement
Publish Date : 09-Mar-2015
The Government revised the FDI Policy in defense sector in August 2014 and raised the FDI limit from 26% to 49% through Government route and above 49% with the approval of Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) on case to case basis.
It will result in access to modern and 'state-of-the-art' technology in the country. The policy has been revised, no assessment of its impact has been made on increasing the share of domestic content in defense procurement.
The defense cooperation agreements with various countries include the cooperation in the areas of defense equipment, technology and Research and Development (R&D).
