Publish Date : 31-Mar-2015

Five global geophysics companies have filed tender documents to implement a 2D seismic marine survey of the offshore parts of Bangladesh. The survey aims to provide the oil and gas sector with 2D seismic data of the offshore areas of the country to aid basin assessment, prospect generation and strong bid-round participation.

Chairman Istiaque Ahmad of the Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation, commonly called Petrobangla, said : "Five interested companies submitted tender documents to conduct a 2D seismic marine survey. We have formed a tender evaluation committee headed by a director to evaluate the documents. After they are evaluated, Petrobangla will select a company and enter into a 10-year deal with it. Petrobangla will share in the profits from selling the data."

The 5 firms include China's BGP, Norwegian-US partnership TGS-NOPEC and Schlumberger, Norwegian Dolphin Geophysical Company, Russian Dalmorneftegeophysica (DMNG) and the British Geotrace.
