Jamaica : GOVT. to invest $51M in IDB co-funded e-procurement system

In order to bolster its public procurement for buying and tendering agencies and vendors, the Government of Jamaica will invest $51 million in its e-procurement system. The government would automate and consolidate these activities in a single portal.

Slightly over $31 million, of the $51 million, which is due to be validated by the country's parliament, will be used for the hosting server and e-procurement system, slated to be in place by July.

Included in the other amounts is $1.47 million to be earmarked for training, $575,000 for a final project review and a project audit costing of a little over $1 million.

Funding is being jointly provided by The government has joined hands with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to provide the funding.
