India : GOVT. invites bids to make Parliament House Complex WiFi enabled

The government of India has invited bids to make the Parliament House Complex WiFi enabled by the end of this year.

The Lok Sabha Secretariat has released a tender to procure and install active components for LAN and WiFi under 2 bids system for all 4 buildings of Parliament House – Parliament House, Parliament Library Building, Parliament House Annexe and Parliament House Annexe (New Building).

The Lok Sabha Secretariat is planning to replace its current Local Area Network (LAN) with a new one and install safe WiFi facility at certain sites to allow parliamentarians and support staffs to benefit from this facility.

The secretariat plans to install 272 WiFi access points within Parliament House Complex.

Parliament House will have 73 access points, Parliament Library Building - 24 access points, Parliament House Annexe - 53 access points and Parliament House Annexe (New Building) - 122 access points, according to the tender document.

The document requires the network management platform of Parliament House Complex to support 500 – 15,000 numbers of wired or mobile devices through virtual or physical appliances.

The Secretariat has released the tender to procure active components of LAN and WiFi i.e. switches, access points(APs), LAN controller, network access validation server and associated software to be installed in 4 buildings of Parliament House Complex. It also asks to supply, install, test and commission active components of LAN and safe WiFi for an estimated cost of around Rs 12 crore.

The project is to be implemented in all the 4 building of Parliament House Complex in phases.
