Publish Date : 15-Apr-2015
The Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC) is in talks with an international procurement certification firm towards implementation of a procurement certification program in Liberia.
According to PPCC Executive Director James Jallah, once finalized, this arrangement will allow PPCC and collaborating public institutions to certificate and license those who complete the course to become professional procurement officers.
Recently, at the beginning of a two-week in-service training of procurement practitioners from 20 government ministries and agencies in Monrovia, Jallah said that, “All of these are intended to truly professionalize procurement.” He further added that a collaborative effort between PPCC, Civil Service Agency (CSA) and the Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA), is doing a career tracking program which will facilitate in the identification of potential professionals in the country.
Jallah further said, with the institution of the required mechanisms, only professionals and licensed procurement personnel will be able to practice in Liberia. He said, “We will hold responsible all professionals practitioners and will not hesitate to revoke an individual's license when there is an ethical breach.”
PPCC offers institutional structures for public procurement and concessions, and specify methods and procedures for public procurement and concessions and for related purposes.
