NEDA receives eligibility submissions to conduct study for Mindanao Railway Project

The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) is hoping to start a feasibility study by end-June that it expects to finally help in the launch of the much-awaited light railway transit project deemed crucial for the economic growth in Mindanao.
The state planning agency has obtained eligibility submissions from 8 consulting companies keen to conduct the study for the Mindanao Railway Project.
Omer Tiblani, a member of the agency’s bids and awards committee, said, "We are in the process of shortlisting the eligible consulting firms."
The Mindanao Railway Project is one of the NEDA's highest priorities for feasibility studies, together with the Nationwide Fish Ports Project and Ilocos Norte Irrigation Project Stage 2, under the Feasibility Studies Fund (FSP).
Tiblani said, "All of these studies are expected to start by end-June this year."
The Mindanao Railway Project would connect leading cites including Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Zamboanga City, Butuan, Surigao, Davao and General Santos.
