Taiwan Province of China : CHUNGHWA TELECOM to participate in the tender for 2500, 2600 MHz spectrum in TAIWAN

Publish Date : 14-May-2015

Taiwanese mobile operator Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) is willing to take part in the tender for 2500 MHz and 2600 MHz spectrum to provide mobile broadband services on the local market.

Taiwan's National Communications Commission (NCC) earlier in February had announced that it would launch a tender for 2,500MHz and 2,600MHz frequency bands at the end of this year’s third quarter.

NCC chairperson Howard Shyr said, at present some of the frequency blocks are being used by WiMax operators.

In case if their licences are renewed, these operators will be able to continue to use the spectrum.

As per NCC's plan, a total of 190 MHz of spectrum will be awarded in these two bands.

According to the commission, 50MHz would be reserved for TD-LTE technology, while the remaining 140MHz would be used for the development of FD-LTE.
