Tanzania : NEC announces tenders for poll materials

On Thursday, the National Electoral Commission (NEC) announced tenders for different equipment and materials, including printing, supply of ballot papers, results forms and tactile ballot folders for use in the general elections scheduled for October.

Other equipment and services includes printing forms, guidance, certificate, posters, legal documents, election reports and supply of laptops, desktop computer, scanners printer, modems, tyres, handling equipment and cleaning suppliers.

According to Acting NEC Head of Communications and Voter Education, Mr Salvatory Alute, the bid forms part of the commission’s calendar. He added, “This has been done in accordance with our calendar as it directed us to release the tender at this time and not otherwise; I am sure that everything will run smoothly.”

Additionally, the bid includes ballot boxes, pooling booths, indelible ink and seals, election stationery, packing materials and batteries along with tamper-proof envelopes, supply of office consumable computer accessories and voter education materials. The tender also includes transportation transport and handling facilities and also the supply of motor vehicles, diesel/fuel, air craft services and the provision of air ticket.

Other supplies covers voter interaction system, offering upgrading and maintenance services for website, fumigation services, food and refreshment, T-Shirt, caps and observer bags and security and wire protectors.

The tender is said to be as per the requirement under section 49 of the Public Procurement Act 2011 and regulations 18 and 19 of the GN 446 of December 20, 2013 for the purpose of informing the potential bidders, suppliers, services providers, consultant and the general public to apply.
