Apple seems to be taking all possible steps required to enhance its mapping service as Google is giving tough competition to the iPhone maker with its Google Maps.

Apple has confirmed that it has bought a global positioning company, Coherent Navigation, a company known for its High Integrity GPS system, which integrated signals from mid-earth orbit GPS satellites with low-earth satellites to deliver enhanced precision and accuracy.
