Ukraine : Arseniy Yatsenyuk calls on coalition to support laws submitted by the coalition Government

Publish Date : 09-Jun-2015

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk appealed to the Parliamentary coalition, "which has its representatives in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine: from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc, the People’s Front, the Batkivshchyna, the Radical Party and the Self-Reliance - to support the laws, those drafted and submitted by the coalition Government." He announced during An Hour of Questions to the Government in Parliament on Friday, June 5.

"70% of the laws that are submitted by the Government, formed by the coalition, unfortunately, are not voted in Parliament," he said.

The Head of Government stressed that in the current plenary week there hadn’t been voted on eight bills, "which were necessary to reform the public finance system, to introduce additional measures to combat corruption and those necessary to ensure implementation of the conditions and requirements by Ukraine to obtain funds from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund".

He also appealed to members of the Parliamentary coalition to support the position of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on the need to extend lustration process.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk emphasized that the Government is not just engaged into implementation of the law on cleansing power "but is the core [institution] to hold lustration within the country": "Senior Government officials, Ministers and officials at the level of first Deputy Ministers and Deputy Ministers undergo the lustration process".

He informed that this day under the law on cleansing power there had been dismissed the police chief of the Kyiv city: "All the law enforcement agencies of the country and the entire public service system are subjected to daily inspection and replacement of staff ".

"The challenge for the Government now is, despite the fact that there is significant resistance concerning dismissal of officials, prosecutors, policemen, law-enforcement officers, to prevent the possibility of destroying the lustration law", accentuated Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
