India - Kerala government to re tender Vizhinjam next year

Kerala government intends to move ahead with the tender proceedings again for the Vizhinjam international container transshipment terminal by mid 2010.
Mr VS Achuthanandan CM of Kerala told newspersons after an all party meeting that the land acquisition for the mega project would begin immediately. The all party meet was held to discuss the preparations being done by the State Government to get the project started. At least INR 450 crore is expected to be earmarked for land acquisition as well as for ensuring supporting infrastructure. Only least populated areas in the vicinity would be acquired for the project.
About 120 hectares would have to be acquired for the project. The evictees would receive rehabilitation package.
