Publish Date : 16-Jun-2015
The Republic of Kazakhstan announced that it will be joining the World Trade Organization (WTO).
It took the Central Asian republic around 20 years of effort to join the organization and the world of mainstream commerce it oversees.
It is informed that on June 22 the accession package will be sent for final approval before WTO members.
WTO Director General Roberto Azevedo said, “I congratulate the WTO members and the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on this historic day. I look forward to welcoming Kazakhstan to the WTO.”
“It was one of the most challenging negotiations in the 20-year history of the organisation,” said Finnish Ambassador Vesa Himanen, who had chaired the WTO working party that negotiated the Kazakh deal.
