The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development declared that it has received application from the Egypt's Ministry of Transport for a €175 million loan to support funding the acquisition of a fleet of trains for the Cairo metro.

It is stated that the National Authority for Tunnels will be accountable for purchasing the trains and plans to invite bids over the Q3 of 2015 for a contract to supply and maintain the new trains.

Information about the quantity of trains required and their type will be published in the tender documents.
