Canada : OTTAWA selects MERX NETWORKS to fulfill e-procurement project

Publish Date : 18-Jun-2015

The city of Ottawa has announced it has chosen MERX Networks for the fulfillment of a 2-year e-procurement pilot project to automate bid solicitations for request for quotations worth up to $100,000.

Ottawa's chief procurement officer Jeff Byrne said, "The synergies between our long term plans, the MERX service offering, and their track record helping vendors find and pursue opportunities is compelling. Furthermore, their technical, operational and change management expertise in the management of public tendering for municipalities of all sizes significantly ensures project success."

Ottawa said it is looking for a cloud-based electronic tendering system that handles requests for tenders, requests for proposals and requests for standing offers, price quotes, proposal evaluations, workflow, approvals, electronic bonding, standing offer management, vendor rotation, vendor performance management and procure-to-pay.

It added that following a competitive review, it was seen that MERX had best shown that it can help the city achieve these goals.

With MERX, the city said it would "drive operational improvements in the supply branch and increase awareness of supply opportunities in the vendor community."

MERX president Jean-Michel Stam said, "We are proud to partner with the City of Ottawa. Ottawa joins a growing number of municipalities and public sector buying organizations across Canada using MERX as a critical component of their e-procurement and strategic sourcing framework."
