Publish Date : 24-Jun-2015

Technip declared that it has secured an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning contract from the PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals to refurbish an ammonia plant in Vietnam.

Technip has obtained this contract in a consortium with Petrovietnam Technical Services (PTSC).

The contract will see Technip upgrading the plant, which is located at the existing Phu My Fertilizer Complex in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.

The existing ammonia output of the plant would be raised by 20% using Haldor Topsoe technology following the upgradation.

“The ammonia will be used as feedstock for a new nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium (NPK) plant, as well as for the market supply locally,” said Technip.

Technip's operating centres based in Rome, Italy; Kuala Lumpur; Malaysia and Ho Chi Minh City; Vietnam will be implementing the contract.

It is estimated that the expanded ammonia plant will be operational in the second half of 2017.

“We are delighted to be working with PVFCCo again, having engineered and built the initial Phu My Fertilizer Complex which was successfully commissioned in 2004,” said Technip Asia Pacific president KK Lim, “This award reinforces our long lasting relationship and demonstrates the client's continued confidence in Technip as a leader in the fertiliser sector which offers solutions based on the world reputed Haldor Topsoe process technology.”
