Publish Date : 09-Jul-2015
During the first year of operations, tenders worth nearly Dh27 billion were processed by the new bidding hall facility of Abu Dhabi Department of Finance.
Located in the department’s headquarters, the “Al Maqtaa bidding hall”, processed about 69 tenders for capital and operational projects, each worth in excess of Dh100 million, in the 12 months up to the end of May, said the finance department.
Total 12 government entities, to include Abu Dhabi’s Department of Transport, the Urban Planning Council, Al Ain City Municipality and Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, had launched the tenders, whose individual details were not revealed.
Main objective of the bidding hall is to promote competitiveness and transparency for project tenders, worth more than Dh100m issued by government entities. Last month, official ceremony was held by Ahmed Al Mazrouei, the secretary general of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, to launch the hall.
According to Mr Al Weswasi, the bidding hall is part of the department’s commitment for implementation of the directives of the Abu Dhabi Government, support the Abu Dhabi 2030 vision and adopt best corporate governance practices through the development of an open, efficient and effective business environment.
Salah Mohamed Al Weswasi, the Department of Finance’s executive director of financial policies and systems sector, said, “By developing the bidding hall’s operations, we are striving to enhance coordination between all government entities, to attract more foreign investment and strengthen the competitiveness of the Emirate’s economy.”
