U.S. Representative Thad Cochran announced that 16 Mississippi fire divisions will get over $1.4 million in Assistance to Firefighters Grants to improve their operations and safety endeavors.

Managed by FEMA in collaboration with the U.S. Fire Administration, the awards will help the divisions as they procure new gear and train their firefighters.

Cochran said, “Firefighters and other first responders protect and serve us at a great personal risk.”

“I am pleased that these grants will help ensure that they are as well-equipped and well-trained as possible.”

These grants are given by a vie procedure managed by fire service specialists.
