India : AP to receive $250m WB credit for Disaster Management

Andhra Pradesh will receive $ 250 million funding help from World Bank for the Andhra Pradesh fiasco recuperation venture.
The credit is from the International Development Association (IDA), the World Bank's concessionary giving arm.
The deal was inked by S Selvakumar, joint secretary, department of economic affairs for the benefit of the central government and Onno Ruhl, nation director (India), World Bank.
Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and East Godavari locale were seriously influenced because of extreme violent wind in October a year ago.
Jagdish Chander Sharma, land and disaster management principal secretary (AP) said, “This will be used for taking up some permanent measures. The power sector was the worst hit and we will use some of the financial assistance for underground cabling. The road network will be strengthened in the districts. The focus will be plantations on the beach front as they will act as natural barriers.â€
