Australia : TASRAIL discloses bids for track upgrading scheme
Publish Date : 21-Jul-2015
TASRAIL announced that it has invited bids for a contract by August 5 to renew sleepers and rails on parts of its 638km network.
TASRAIL operates the 1067mm-gauge railway on the Australian island state of Tasmania. It needs about 10,600 sleepers and 6km of rails for deployment on sections of the South, Western and Melba lines.
Bidders should attend site visits on July 21 and 22 and the work should be finished on the South line by October 4, the Western line by November 8 and the Melba line by December 6.
According to the TASRAIL, this is the second package of work under Tasmania's Rail Freight Revitalisation Programme, a five-year $A 239.2m ($US 176.5m) project introduced in 2014-15 and funded equally by Tasmania and the Australian federal government.
