China,United States : WINCANTON secures new contract with BAE SYSTEMS

Chain solutions supplier, Wincanton has secured a new contract with aerospace and defence group BAE Systems.

The contract is set to begin with immediate effect, as per which Wincanton will be responsible to provide goods management and inspection, storage and packing, and transportation services in BAE Systems Military Air & Information (MAI) operations at Warton and Samlesbury.

Wincanton has also announced its decision to dedicate approximately 150 staff members towards this new project. It said that the operations at the MAI Brough site will not be affected by the deal.

The group further added that it will even serve as the operator of a new purpose built defence logistics centre, to be completed in 2016, which will see it become the first non BAE Systems business operating in the Samlesbury Enterprise Zone.

Steve Vandersteen, director of procurement and supply chain at BAE Systems MAI, said, "This partnership is part of our continued drive for efficiency to ensure we are well placed to provide the best possible value products and services to our customers."
