United States : SNC-Lavalin bags EPC contract for Keys Energy Center project in Maryland

Publish Date : 25-Jul-2015

An engineering, procurement and construction deal has been won by SNC-Lavalin for the 775MW Keys Energy Center project situated in Prince George’s County, Maryland, US.

PSEG Power has lately purchased Maryland, which is the combined-cycle natural gas-fired power project from Genesis Power and an energy-focused private equity fund managed by Ares EIF Management.

The facility is expected to be licensed in 2018 and it would associate to the adjacent Potomac Electric Power (PEPCO)/PJM 500kV transmission line.

The project would include two gas-fired turbines and one steam turbine and would be fired by natural gas. It also covers two combustion turbine generators (CTGs) fitted out with dry, low oxides of nitrogen (NOx) combustors; two heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) with duct burners (DBs); a single condensing steam turbine generator (STG).

SNC-Lavalin thermal senior vice-president Mike Ranz said: "We're proud to be part of the PSEG Keys Energy Center project because it will provide clean energy to Maryland, make the energy grid more reliable, and create new jobs and economic opportunity in the region.

"The project is the third that SNC-Lavalin has won in the northeastern United States in recent years and solidifies our position as a leader in the US power market."
