United States : DELFIN LNG selects Bechtel for initial FLNG service in US
Publish Date : 07-Aug-2015
Bechtel has been picked by Delfin LNG, an entirely claimed auxiliary of Fairwood Peninsula Energy Corporation, to do front-end engineering and design (FEED) for the first U.S located floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) ship to go into operation at Port Delfin.
Port Delfin is a projected deep water port and floating LNG service that will be situated around 50 miles off the shoreline of Cameron Parish, Louisiana. Delfin LNG's venture will be the initial offshore floating natural gas liquefaction service in the U.S. Upon the last endowment decision, Bechtel is planned to design, build and commission the FLNG ship.
"We look forward to working with Bechtel to construct and commission what will be the first floating liquefaction vessel to operate off the North American Coast," said Frederick Jones, founder of Delfin LNG.
Jack Futcher, president of Bechtel's Oil, Gas and Chemicals business unit in Houston said, "We bring extensive engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning expertise in the LNG and offshore industries to the exciting new market of floating LNG facilities."
"Our team is looking forward to working with Delfin LNG to deliver another first in the U.S.—a world-class FLNG vessel."
