Turkey : Turkey's defense procurement agency launches process to acquire drones

Turkey's defense procurement agency launched a process to acquire 15 drones from the state Turkish Aerospace Industry (TAI) and 15 from Istanbul-based developer Baykar Makine, for use by police forces. Twelve of the recently bought drones are considered urgent.
The Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM) said the police had announced that it needs operative and tactical unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) to be used against increasing terror attacks,
Efforts in cooperation with the police, has started to buy 15 operative ANKA UAVs, a domestic vehicle developed by the TAI, and 15 tactical Bayraktar UAVs, developed by Baykar.
The acquisition will also cover purchasing five task systems from each company. Two sets of ANKAs, totaling 6 drones, and 2 sets of Bayraktars, will be bought urgently, while the remainder will be purchased over years.
