Ukraine : Ukrainian Parliament passes government bill on public tenders
Publish Date : 18-Sep-2015
New law of Ukraine to provide everyone access to information on public tenders, their price, owners of enterprises and protocols of assessments.
The reform also significantly facilitates participation in public tenders and prevents from deliberate blocking of tenders through the appeal procedure. Now participants are not required to provide information, which is in the public domain and only the winner of a tender will have to provide the complete documentation. The law will also speed up the signing of the WTO agreement on government procurement and an international market entry of Ukrainian companies.
"Its about a huge potential market, which amounts $1.7 trillion. It is 30 times more than the monetary equivalent of Ukraine's exports in 2014. Instead of having to fight for every shelf in foreign supermarkets, Ukrainian companies will be able to sell their goods and services on public tenders of the USA, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong and Canada," explains Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Maxim Nefyodov.
Recall that in early September Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk called a government bill on public procurement among the priorities that need to be voted in the Parliament.
