Balfour Beatty Equitix Consortium, a consortium including Balfour Beatty Investments and Equitix has been selected as the preferred bidder by Ofgem to possess and run the offshore transmission link to the 219MW Humber Gateway wind farm for the next 20 years.
It was chosen via a competitive process in which bidders contend to become an offshore transmission owner (OFTO).
The tender discovered the lowest bids to date as a proportion of asset value demonstrating the value of using competition to drive down the costs of the networks for connecting offshore wind.
The energy regulator stated that the decision completes the procurement of Tender Round 3 OFTO projects.
The transmission assets estimated value is 173.3m and are presently possessed and have been built by Eon Climate and Renewables UK Humber Wind.
