Local Sunshine Coast businesses looking to skill-up and tap into the multi-billion dollar chest of government work are invited to attend a half-day workshop.

Minister for State Development and Minister for Natural Resources and Mines Dr Anthony Lynham said the workshop was the Queensland Governments premier program educating local businesses on the governments contract procurement processes.

This workshop is designed to educate local businesses on government procurement processes and ensure that current and potential suppliers are maximising their chances of winning government work, Dr Lynham said. Each year, federal, state and local governments make thousands of tender requests to the private sector for the supply of goods and services.

Procurement investment from the Queensland Government is worth up to $18 billion per year, and its important that our local businesses are aware of how they can benefit from the process. I would strongly encourage Sunshine Coast-based businesses to attend this workshop.

The four hour interactive workshop run by the Department of State Development will give participants skills in a variety of areas including: the principles of government procurement policies and process, how to interpret and effectively respond to offer and tender documents, where to look for current and upcoming tendering opportunities, how to conduct market research to maximise your chances of success.

The workshop will be held in Maroochydore on 21 October at the Mike Ahern Building at 12 First Avenue, Maroochydore from 8.30am to 12.30pm.

The cost of the workshop is $50 per attendee.
