Publish Date : 23-Oct-2015

The CEMAC Commissioner for the Common Market Department, Pascal Youbi-Lagha, met with the Minister of Trade and Business Development, Alfredo Mitogo Mitogo Ada, to address various issues regarding this institution such as the agreements between the CEMAC and the EU and the free movement of goods and people in the community area.

The Minister of Trade and Business Promotion, Alfredo Mitogo Mitogo Ada, granted an audience on Tuesday, October 20, in his official office, to the Commissioner for the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) for the of the Common Market Department, Pascal Youbi-Lagha.The commissioner went to the ministerial department to inform the Minister of Commerce on various issues relating to the CEMAC, as well as on the delivery of various documents concerning the meetings held in the sector, both in Europe and in other African countries.

Another issue discussed in this meeting was the agreements on free movement of people and goods in the CEMAC zone, of which Youbi-Lagha discussed the progress of work of the Agreement on Regional Economic Partnership between the CEMAC and the Union European (EU)."Equatorial Guinea has not yet established a national committee in charge of these negotiations; for this reason I have approached the Minister to discuss this issue and see what measures should be established, so that Equatorial Guinea can constitute a committee for these agreements.

On the issue of free movement of people and goods, it is a document presented in the Council of Ministers of the CEMAC. This dossier spoke of the current situation of biometric passports of our institution and the procurement system of visas to access the member countries and the EU," added the CEMAC expert. The Minister of Trade appreciated the work carried out by the committee: "The intervention of different entities when we talk about administration policy is necessary; and on these issues, we need them analyzed in conjunction with the relevant ministerial departments, including that of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

The problematic issue of free movement is a topic that has been addressed several times in CEMAC meetings and the decisions made to date are being studied," the Minister also stated. This meeting was attended by the Directors General of Trade and the Minister's Cabinet, Javier Clemente Engonga and Sinforiano Sidney Nela Morgades, among other officials of the department.
