Oman : 9 international marine engineering firms prequalified for $1bn liquid terminal

Publish Date : 29-Oct-2015

Nine international marine engineering firms have been prequalified by the government of Oman to participate in a tender for the construction of a Bulk Liquid Berths Terminal at the Port of Duqm.
The contract is worth $1bn, as per which the successful bidder will be responsible to carry out the design, dredging, reclamation and jetty works for the new terminal.

Primarily, the contract encompasses the marine infrastructure facilities, and represents Package 1 of the Bulk Liquid Berths Terminal project. The tendering process is been managed by The Special Economic Zone Authority at Duqm (SEZAD).

Boskalis Westminster Middle East Oman; Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co; Van Oord Oman; Dredging International; Tecnicas Reunidas; Consolidated Contractors Co; China Harbour Engineering Co; Huta Marine Works and Penta Ocean Construction Co. are the selected nine firms.

According to SEZAD, the terminal will serve as the outgo port for Duqm Refinery - a 230,000 barrels-per-day capacity greenfield project. The liquid terminal's handover is expected to take place ahead of the refinery's scheduled start-up in early 2019.
