The tender to install 56 high quality CCTV (Closed-Circuit Television) across the district as well as its periphery has been awarded to a private company for Rs 2.4 crore. The tender was awarded after nearly eight months. According to MC officials, Panchkula police have identified 30 different points in the district on February 26, following which the civic body took up the tender process.
Municipal commissioner Jagdeep Dhanda has confirmed the allotment of Rs 2.4 crore tender to the Panchkula-Chandigarh based private company, DSS (Doorsanchar Systems). The firm will be completing the work within eight months, installing an optical-fiber wire. According to officials, all cameras would be connected to a control room and would feature night vision.
MC superintending engineer (SE), Anil Mehta, said, "All the cameras will be of high quality and will also provide night vision. Installation will take time as we have to prepare proper infrastructure and install software throughout the district."
Installation of three to four CCTV cameras will be done at some points and the entire process will take around eight months for real time monitoring.
Major points to be covered includes the lightpoints of Sector 6/7, lightpoints of old Panchkula, sector 17/18, T-point of Gandhi Chowk, Kalka, Ramgarh Chowk, NH-73, Chandimandir Railway station NH-22, sector 20, parking of markets in sectors 6,7,8,9,10,11 and 20, lightpoints of Mansa Devi Complex, Morni T-point, lightpoints Pinjore Chowk, T-point, Barwala NH-73 and almost all chowks inside the city.
