India,Oman : L&T OMAN selected to work on $93m Sohar Airport contract

Larsen & Toubro Oman has been selected to construct a passenger terminal along with other facilities at Sohar Airport.
The contract was awarded at a bid price of $93.4m (OMR36m), and is one of the total $254.5m (OMR98m) awarded for by the country's Tender Board.
According to information, the bid from the Indian contractor of around $89.5m (OMR34.5m) is closest among the four bids received by the authorities. Larsen & Toubro's bid is 23.9% lower as compared with its closest competitor Carillion Akawi's bid of $117.6m (OMR45.3m).
During last year, Sohar Airport's first and second packages were completed, and included infrastructure work, like construction of a 4km runway, 30km of airport service roads, and additional supporting infrastructure for the airport.
Joannou and Paraskevaides Oman and Strabag Oman had also submitted bids for the project.
