Latvia : PV - 5 bids received for EMUs procurement tender

Pasazieru Vilciens (PV) has announced that five firms submitted bids in Phase I of the tender for DMUs acquisition launched by the Latvian passenger operator: Patentes Talgo S.L, Stadler Polska Sp. z o.o., Uralskie lokomotivy, Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles S.A. and Skoda vagonka a.s.
Andris Lubans, CEO of PV, said, "The tender procedure was organized with the aim to reach out to as many candidates as possible, provided that it will allow us to receive an adequate offer for the best price. The industrys interest in the tender has been the highest of all time in Latvia with regard to procurement of this level. This shows that we have selected a proper form of tender, which facilitates competition and ensures favorable conditions for the procurement of new trains in the future."
Under the tender procedure, PV will assess the first round bids in the following months and will select the candidates qualifying for the second round of the bidding, when full technical specifications will be offered.
The winner will be declared in the spring of next year.
