France : TECHNIP bags CHS hydrogen plant deal

Publish Date : 17-Nov-2015

CHS Inc., a US-based global agribusiness has awarded Technip a significant contract to deliver proprietary technology and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) for a grassroots hydrogen plant in Laurel, Montana.

The 40,000 normal cubic meters per hour hydrogen plant will be situated at the CHS Refinery in Laurel. The deal is likely to be worth somewhere between 50-100m. The project will be executed by Technips operating centre in Claremont, California. Completion is expected in 2017.

The design of the plant will make use of Technips high efficiency top-fired steam reforming technology to generate high purity hydrogen and export steam, in addition to the newest nitrogen oxide reduction technology to ensure minimum emissions.

With this key hydrogen project, we are pleased to continue our long-term relationship with CHS. The award reinforces Technips strategic focus on early involvement in projects with our steam reforming technology as a key differentiator, said Stan Knez, President of Technip Stone & Webster Process Technology.

Earlier, Technip has concluded two hydrogen projects for the CHS Refinery in McPherson, Kansas.
