Oman : DUQM REFINERY seeks bids for EPC contracts
Publish Date : 23-Nov-2015
Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries Co, a joint venture between Oman Oil Co and the UAEs International Petroleum Investment Co (IPIC), has invited a total of seven prequalifed applicants for submission of tenders for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts of its Duqm Refinery project. The applicants includes a combination of joint ventures, alliances, and sole entities capturing a total of 15 international companies.
The selection procedure followed a structured and robust prequalification evaluation of the capabilities of all the firms who had applied for inclusion on the tender list. The tender is expected to include two EPC contracts, where in the larger contract would cover all the equipment and structures required to process the crude oil. The second contract shall include the facilities, utilities, tankage and buildings that are required to support that refinery process.
Jacobus Nieuwenhuijze, Duqm Refinery project director, said, The release of the Invitation to Tender documentation to these tenderers is another key milestone in the refinery project lifecycle and a significant achievement for the project team. The tender process has been well established and shall remain the focus of much of the team for the next year. Our aim is to achieve success on an international level by insisting on high standards of design, construction and operation and by adding value to an area that is considered to be the new economic hub of Oman and that shall become a major player in the region.
