India : Civic administration submits proposal to invite tenders to build Rs 324.03 crore roads across city
Publish Date : 24-Nov-2015
The civic administration is at last submitting its plan to invite bids to build cement roads worth Rs324.03 crore across the city.
The plan will be tabled during the meeting of the standing committee on November 26. The plan also proposes to empower the superintending engineer to change conditions, if neccessary, during pre-bid meeting.
While NMC will invest Rs124.03 crore, both Nagpur Improvement Trust and State government will provide Rs100 crore each to the project.
The administration has also planned to extend the contract with architect Virendra Khare to build the new administration building. The building's project was Rs17.99 crore when it won approval in January 2003. It has now increased to Rs56.34 crore.
The administration has said it will continue Khare's services by paying him 3% of total cost, as interiors of building are yet to be done. Revision of service charge has not been proposed.
Other proposals including tender to build a new bridge from Sardar Patel Chowk towards Mokshadham road. The old bridge is now having cracks and the civic body has limited movement of four wheelers and heavy vehicles on it.
Though the NMC had created a proposal of Rs5.74 crore to rebuild the bridge, it did not implement the work due to financial crunch. NMC has now said it will start the work and the administration is seeking standing panel's approval to make a provision of Rs3 crore in the current fiscal year. It has also submitted a proposal of Rs25.36 lakh to beautify Wathoda crematorium.
