India : INDIA government in efforts to reduce defence procurement process: Manohar Parrikar

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar announced that the Government was in efforts to bring down the defence procurement process to three years from existing an average of five years.
Recently while addressing the annual session of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in New Delhi, Parrikar stated that the government would bring out a comprehensive document on the Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP) to the satisfaction of India Inc in general and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in particular.
The Defence Minister requested members of industry to give a critical view on the proposed DPP as with the help of their criticism the government would be able to prepare the document of simplified procedures.
It will help the government in making India self reliant in defence production as well, he added.
