During a November meeting held in Cheyenne, the Wyoming Transportation Commission awarded contracts totaling $23.6 million for eight highway projects across the state, which including three contracts to be funded with revenue from the 10-cent fuel tax increase.
Lovells Mountain Construction Co. won the contract for the third 10-cent fuel tax project with the low bid of $1.9 million to grind off deteriorating pavement and for replacing it with three inches of new asphalt on a mile of US 14-16-20 (Sheridan Avenue and Eighth Street) in Cody.
Additionally, the work will include repairing damaged curbs and gutter along with modifications as per the Americans with Disabilities Act. Commencement of the work between the 10th Street and Conifer Lane intersections is expected in March, with completion scheduled by June 15.
According to information, other projects were awarded to Riverside Contracting of Missoula, Mont., whose bid was the lowest of $7.8 million for improvements to nearly 13 miles of the southbound lanes of Interstate 25 from about 1 mile south of Kaycee north to Antelope Creek.
Worlands McGarvin-Moberly Construction, which had submitted the low bid at $4.4 million to carry out improvements to nearly 11 miles of WYO 270 just north of Hartville. McGarvin-Moberly has ever secured a $2.4 million contract for a pavement milling and overlay project on 10 miles of WYO 130 from about 7 miles south of Saratoga to just north of Riverside.
Hedquist Construction of Mills, received a $2.8 million contract to replace the North Platte River Bridge on Bryan Stock Trail in north Casper. The existing bridge is two separate adjoining structures. One of them is to be reconstructed and tied into the other structure to make a single bridge with a new layer of pavement on top. Hedquist also emerged as the low bidder at $1.9 million to build about a half-mile of new road to connect WYO 50 to Overdale Drive in Gillette.
DeBernardi Construction of Rock Springs, was the low bidder at $1.66 million for drainage improvements and erosion repairs in the median of nearly 15 miles of Interstate 80 about 6 miles east of Evanston.
DRM Inc. of Gillette, was awarded a $708,000 contract for slide repair work in the median of Interstate 90 about one-half mile southeast of Sheridan and on the west side of US 87 about seven miles south of Sheridan.
