United States : INGALLS SHIPBUILDING wins $200 million Navy vessel contract

Ingalls Shipbuilding has announced winning a $200 million contract to construct an amphibious transport dock for the Navy.
According to the company, the contract is called an initial procurement contract, which enables Ingalls to commence with the process of procuring long lead-time materials and major equipment for the LPD 28, the Navy's 12th amphibious transport dock of the San Antonio class.
Announcement of the total construction contract is scheduled for a later date.
Following the receipt of this new contract, the company will be able to begin paying for main engines, diesel generators, deck equipment, shafting, propellers, valves and other systems.
