Pakistan : PITB introduces e-procurement system in Punjab

In order to conduct procurement transactions among state-run departments, Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has introduced an e-procurement system.
PITB developed the advanced system which will provide a simpler yet translucent and effective technology to deal with small financial transactions.
Chairman PITB, Dr Umar Saif publicized the project in his speech at official meeting held at Arfa Software Technology Park few days ago.
With this system, transaction maximum of Rs 100,000 is allowed.
All transactions were handled manually in the past before the new system was launched.
As the old system attached few flaws, the new technology will allow suppliers to add only one quotation against any procurement prospect which will be verified using their National Tax Number, easily and in no time.
