Oil Search has inked two power purchase deals, the Biomass Independent Power Producer (IPP) and Highlands IPP, with Government owned PNG Power, as part of a long term plan to develop solutions for PNGs power sector.

These deals follow the development and supply of diesel to PNG Power's power plant in Tari in April 2015, enabling the beginning of continuous 24 hour power generation in the town, and the inking of a statement of intent with PNG Power on the next stages of the Ramu power project in September 2015.

Ramu is planning to offer up to 100MW of additional electricity generating capacity in a phased rollout, allowing the connection of up to one million people to a larger and improved electricity grid by 2030. Originally published as Oil Search receives two PNG power purchases.
