Publish Date : 07-Jan-2016
Masen - Morocco's agency for solar power has announced a call for expression of interest to develop the first phase of the Noor Midelt solar power project. The agency will be accepting bids by 10 a.m. local time on February 1, 2016.
Masen said, Noor Midelt or NoorM I, as the agency calls it, will feature one or several power plants with a hybrid technology, combining concentrated solar power (CSP) with photovoltaics (PV). As per plans, the total capacity will be of 400 MW. Execution of the project will be under the independent power producer (IPP) scheme.
Selection of developer(s) will be done through an international tender with various stages mainly to include the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of the power plant(s).
The Noor Midelt site covers a surface of around 2,400 hectares, situated around 25 kilometres north-east of the town of Midelt.
Financial closure is expected in 2017 with construction works scheduled to begin by end-2017.
