Canada,United States : WINDSOR-DETROIT BRIDGE Authority Shortlists three firms for new Gordie Howe International Bridge tender

The Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority announced the issuance of a short-list of three private-sector teams who will compete for a stake in the construction of the multi-billion dollar Gordie Howe International Bridge.

As per the recent report, the new link between Detroit, Mich. and Windsor, Ont. will cost $4.8 billion.

Legacy Link Partners, Bridging North America and CanAm Gateway Partners have answered the WDBAs request for qualifications from the list of six consortiums and was selected to proceed to the next stage of procurement.

Michael Cautillo, president and CEO of WDBA said, "With the short-listed respondents named, WDBA is pleased to have concluded the first stage in the public-private partnership procurement process. Our team of dedicated staff, partners and consultants have worked diligently to implement a fair and transparent process that recognizes the size and scope of this unprecedented international project.

Being built under the public-private partnership system, the three teams will now progress to the request for proposals stage.

The announcement is an important milestone in the bridges construction, said Canadas infrastructure minister, Amarjeet Sohi, Federal infrastructure investments such as the Gordie Howe International Bridge project will, in the short-term, stimulate the local, regional and national economies by creating jobs and opportunities for businesses. In the long-term, the new bridge will contribute to the economic growth and continued prosperity of both Canada and the United States.
