Publish Date : 30-Jan-2016
The city of Lund in Sweden has released global tender notices for contracts to build and equip the city's maiden light rail line.
Lund has published the tender notices in the Official Journal of the European Union.
The 5.5km double-track line between Lund Central station and Science Village connecting the mainline rail network with employment centres and research institutions in the northeast of city. The line will serve 9 stations and trams will run at 7.5-minute headways.
Procurement is split into 2 tenders, one covering civil works and infrastructure and the other for the tram fleet.
The rolling stock tender requires seven 30m-long low-floor LRVs which will be 2.65m wide and can accommodate up to 130 passengers.
Infrastrucutre would cost SKr 776m ($US 90.4m) with an additional SKr 175m for rolling stock and SKr 180m for the line's depot.
The project would be completed by 2019 and an extension to Dalby has been proposed in the longer-term.
