Philippines : Procurement Service Depot of Negros Occidental generates actual sales totaling P48.96M
Publish Date : 02-Feb-2016
The Procurement Service Depot of Negros Occidental has generated actual sales aggregating P48.96 million in 2015, nearly 40 percent more than its projected sales of just P35 million.
Provincial depot supervisor, Ma. Mina Pellejo, said actual sales are derived from procurement of supplies primarily by various national agencies, local government units (LGUs), state funding institutions, and state universities and colleges in Negros Island and Panay.
Pellejo said these customers buy their supplies through the depot which is jointly managed by the provincial government and the Procurement Service Office (PSO) of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
Pellejo said,"The goods are purchased in bulk volume thus, these agencies, LGUs and institutions can acquire supplies with prices 30 percent cheaper than those sold in the market,", adding that the depot helps clients save funds from their procurement budget which can be translated into other services.
Negros Occidental was the country's first Provincial Government to jointly manage the procurement servicing with DBM in 2004. Under which, half of the net sale, where all costs like administrative overhead and expenses for job order personnel are already deducted, goes to the province's general fund.
In terms of procurement system, Pellejo said the PSO supplies the goods while the province offers the manpower and the warehouse space, and is also responsible for the daily operation of the depot.
She said that the customers then directly buy from the depot.
She added,"Efficiency wise, the purchase of supplies is very smooth-flowing since upon payment, the client can immediately get the goods."
She noted that the depot beforehand confirms to the customers the availability of supplies.
