A $44,000 contract is awarded by the Town Council to MJL Construction of Woodworth for a sewer pump station project to help alleviate problems at Kinder Middle School.
The companys bid was the lowest received for the project, as per to Wesley Miller of Pan American Engineers.
Town engineer Tom David drafted a cooperative endeavor agreement between the town and Allen Parish School Board for the project. The two entities under the agreement will pay half of the cost to fix a pump station near the school.
The School Board will possess the facility and be accountable for maintenance as stated by Mayor Wayland LaFargue. The school has been experiencing sewer problems since a new wing was added a few years ago.
Miller said stated that the sewage backs up when the area in inundated with rain, causing problems.
