United States : Brocton Central School District improves procurement procedure following state audit
Publish Date : 19-Feb-2016
Brocton Central School District officials have announced they are improving their procurement process.
The announcement has been made after an audit by the state Comptroller's Office showed the district did not use competitive bidding to buy goods and services from nine vendors.
The audit examined procurement from 23 suppliers who were paid about $571,300 between July 1, 2014 and Nov. 5, 2015. Non-competitive procurement amounted to $236,749.
The district was criticized by auditors for not issuing a request for proposals for a range of professional services, including liability insurance and legal, architectural and financial consulting.
The district was also criticized for not getting competitive bids on diesel fuel and for the procurement of a van.
But, the audit noted, that officials received three written quotes on the van and selected the lowest-cost supplier.
