Publish Date : 04-Mar-2016

A Saudi Arabian renewable energy developer, Acwa Power International, has acquired Sunrise Solar Energy, a project company which is developing a 50-megawatt solar power plant in Jordan.

A subsidiary of Greek developer SunRise Photovoltaic Systems, Sunrise Solar System Jordan, sold the project following the tender win to construct it last May by bidding 0.043 Jordanian dinar a kilowatt-hour.

Acwa said, the unit will form part of a 150-megawatt solar complex in the Mafraq development northeast of the capital city of Amman. Financial details of the transaction were not revealed.

Sunrise has inked a 20-year power purchase agreement with Jordans National Electric Power Company.

Germanys ET Solutions will offer engineering, procurement and construction services and Jordans Central Electricity Generation Company and First National Company for Operation and Maintenance Services, a subsidiary of Acwa, will be responsible for operations and maintenance of the plant.

The government of Jordan has awarded power purchase agreements for 12 solar energy projects, to install 200 megawatts.
